British actor David Oyelowo has backed the Black History in Primary Schools campaign, which was launched in Birmingham and aims to make black history a mandatory element of UK primary education.
Oyelowo, recently nominated for a Golden Globe Best Actor award for his portrayal of Martin Luther King Jr in Selma, commented that adding black history to the curriculum was 'important and invaluable'. The petition must have 100,000 signatures for the issue to be discussed in Parliament.
